Having accurate up-to-date manufacturing documents is essential to your organizations success. IMW can help you achieve this goal. There was a time in manufacturing, not long ago, that a BOM with 90% accuracy was considered to be a benchmark for a successful company. This may no longer be the case. Accurate BOM’s lead to lower inventory levels, more accurate cost accounting, and lower scrap rates. If you are trying to run your organization with JIT (Just in Time) philosophies, 100% accurate BOM’s are a must. Any successful MRP or ERP system implementation requires highly accurate BOM’s to succeed. This appears simple on the surface, especially when product design is viewed as static. The real world, as you know, is much different, products and their life cycles are anything but static. Designs change, suppliers come and go, all this activity must be documented as close to the actual event as possible. Failure to do this will lead to inaccurate information entering your systems. When this happens your employees will quickly circumvent the system to allow them to continue doing their jobs successfully. This will of course lead to more inaccuracies snowballing into more failures.
